September 2015

September has been a great month. We had some fun new beginnings this month.

Lily started preschool! She loves Miss Molly and her husband Mr. David and the other teacher, Miss Macy. She has already learned and grown so much. I'm so glad she gets to go to Bear Hollow. Its an amazing experience for her.Everyday when I drop her off she runs inside or to whoever is greeting her and grabs their hand. When I pick her up she is always bubbling over with excitement about everything they did and what she learned. She has learned 3 letters in sign language already that she is always showing me (L, X, and U) and lots of nursery rhymes.

After her first day of preschool we celebrated at McDonald's or as she calls it "Old Mcdonald's"

cutest homework

Lily and I got to go on a field trip with Bear Hollow to Historic Wheeler Farm. It was so much fun! We saw pigs, sheep, cows, horses, geese, ducks, and rabbits. We got to ride on a long and scenic tractor ride and she got to ride in a metal cow named Tessie around the farm as well. A blacksmith showed us how he makes tools and we ate some lunch with about a thousand ducks and geese. It was such a pretty place.

Lily is also still loving dance lessons she gets to take with her buddy Sophie! We got to go to a Dance Carnival where she saw Elsa and Anna (from a distance since she's terrified of live princesses or characters) play carnival games, get her face painted like Minnie Mouse, and jump in bounce houses.

Lucy had her first ear infection and her first UTI :( Poor baby. She has 7 1/2 teeth now and is as cute as a button. She gets into everything now and is everywhere! She gets jealous when Lily or the kitty sit on my lap, but she's willing to share with them if she is sitting on my lap too.. She is still really snuggly and sweet. She walks like a pro and even runs every now and then. Her favorite thing in the world is still my hair to grab and rub on her own nose and lips. She loves our kitty and her big sister. She gets so excited when Daddy  comes home!

We have 2 Black Kittens Now

Lucy says: Mommy, Daddy, Lily (Yi Yi),Me,  Kitty, Uh-Oh, No, Hi,  and a bunch of babble. She mostly communicates with gestures and screams still. She is so tiny that people always comment that she looks too small to be walking around and are always surprised when I say, "Well she's 14 months...." She loves to sit in your lap and read books. She gives kisses and hugs and is very loving.

There is something about Lucy that draws everyone to her. She is a little light and just so cute. Everywhere we go people from babies to old grandparents admire her and talk to her. Its a good thing she is so cute because if she wasn't we'd have a harder time forgiving her for all the times she scratches us, pinches us, and pulls our hair! She's always getting into everything now. The garbages, drawers, cupboards, toilets, etc. We have to watch her like a hawk! Her other favorite activity is getting a wipe or a rag and cleaning out the inside of cups, stacking cubes, or my measuring cups like a tiny bar tender.
Her Big Brown Chocolate Eyes are too adorable

My sisters and I started a blog together called Savvy Stoker Sisters. You can check it out at savvystokersisters.blogspot.com and follow us on instagram @savvystokersisters. We already have some good recipes on there and other fun and informative posts. I changed my blog from Loving My Life As A Mommy, Teacher, Writer, and Wife to The Hungry Mom. A lot easier to type and remember! You can read my blog posts at thehungrymom.com and follow my blog on instagram @thehungrym0m. I love having a blog because it helps motivate me to be a better mom. It helps me clean, cook, do activities with the kids, etc.! Lots of writing going on! I've also been working on writing a beach story to submit for an anthology. So I have been exercising my fingers a  lot :).

I'm teaching piano lessons to 10 students. We are getting ready for our Halloween recital that will be the last Sunday in October. I have really enjoyed teaching piano again. Its nice to be around a piano again and around students. Its great to feel like I contribute a tiny bit financially and to have a break from being a mom a few hours a week.

Michael's school year is in full swing and he is enjoying teaching his 7th and 9th graders and his honor students English. He has a new principal this year who he really likes. He loved his old principal too of course, but his new one makes him think maybe being a principal would be fun. He loves teaching however so for now is planning on continuing with that.Michael is still writing a lot as well and is amazing at it.

Toothless, our kitty, was declawed and neutered this month. He spent 2 nights at Sandy Animal Clinic and we missed him a lot! He is already a part of the family. Our sister-in-law Brittany did the surgery on him with the Dr. The poor kitty has to wear an e-collar or cone of shame for 2 weeks. Toothless acts like a dog. He sits under Lucy's highchair waiting for her to drop food and he gobbles it up! He is so sweet and cute and a very affectionate kitty. We sure love our Toothless.

After Women's Conference I got to meet my mom, my sister Judy, and niece Zoe at Teppanyaki's for some yummy dinner. That is one of my favorite restaurants! Filet Mignon and Shrimp with noodles mmmmmmmmm.

I also got to go to Draper Temple for a session for the first time with my cousin who was going through for the first time. It was so pretty and peaceful! Just what I needed to recharge.

September was busy, and exciting with new changes. I'm so happy its October now. Love Halloween Month!
