Lily got tubes in her ears

We started of 2014 with a bang by going to American Fork Hospital on Thursday, January 2nd to get some tubes put in Lily's ears. She has had like 20 ear infections and she constantly had fluid in her ears which causes some hearing loss so it needed to be done! She had a wonderful surgeon, Dr. Denys. He took out my tonsils a few years ago and we really liked him. Plus he is in the top 1% of ear nose and throat surgeons so we felt pretty confident with him.

Lily hated not eating breakfast. Even though we got there at 7:15 am, super early she still wanted to eat and kept begging for food :( It broke my heart. She was more upset before the surgery than after because she was starving! Luckily the fish in the waiting room helped distract her a bit and then the nice nurse gave her a bunch of stickers so that helped too.

We put Lily in a really cute hospital gown and soon they whisked her away for surgery. She didn't even cry because she had her stickers and was wrapped in a warm blanket so life was pretty good. Michael and I were so nervous. We played some candy crush and ate our breakfast while she was gone. They brought her back in about 20 minutes! Lily wasn't freaking out either. She just showed me her stickers again and let me cuddle her. After a little bit she did start freaking out. The anesthesia was making her feel like her head was on backwards!
What are you guys doing to me!?!

I'm so hungry!

Soon they let us go and said she was doing great and the surgery went great. The doctor said the fluid in her ear blocked her hearing more than ear plugs do that you wear at a shooting range or at a concert! We've already noticed that she is hearing a lot more and starting to talk more clearly! I'm sure it feels a lot better to not have all that pressure too.She has had a lot of extra energy than she used to have. The last 2 days she has refused to take a nap. This is what happened tonight around 6:30. She slept right on through me putting her ear drops in her ears and then taking her pony tails out of her hair and taking her jacket off. What a cute, tired girl!

Hopefully we will have a healthier 2014!
